What is Globe Valve

The Globe Valve no longer used ”Gate”,  but used ”Plug”.

This structure greatly reduces the height of the valve, so that it can be installed in some places where the gate valve cannot be installed smoothly.

Globe valves are named for their spherical body shape with the two halves of the body being separated by an internal baffle. This has an opening that forms a seat onto which a movable plug can be screwed in to close (or shut) the valve. The plug is also called a disc or disk. In globe valves, the plug is connected to a stem which is operated by screw action using a handwheel in manual valves. Typically, automated globe valves use smooth stems rather than threaded and are opened and closed by an actuator assembly.

Compared with Gate Valve, Globe Valve also has some shortcomings. The opening and closing torque of the Globe Valve is relatively large, and the opening and closing difficulty is higher than that of the Gate Valve. It can't even be closed when the medium pressure is too high. The flow passage in the valve body is relatively tortuous, and the fluid resistance of the Globe Valve is significantly higher, which causes the loss of fluid power in the pipeline. Similarly, due to the greater fluid resistance, the Globe Valve is more susceptible to erosion damage.
